Basic Troubleshooting
|
Number One step to try when encountering a problem is:
Restart you computer
|
|
Many problems can be solved by simply restarting the computer, this gives
your computer a fresh set of configurations to work with. Servers are
intended to run for extended periods of time but personal computers generally
can to be shut down when not in use. Try restarting your computer if a problem
develops while running your computer.

Error while Logging in to ACS
Invalid Username or Password, "Error 691"
|
If you get this message there are a number of items to check:
- Make sure your "CAPS LOCKS" are not turned on when entering
the username and password, ACS only uses lower case letters
for username and passwords.
-
Your username should only be the first part of your email address,
do not include the "@arvig.net" or other extensions. See example to
the right. Yours may look slightly different, but the important items are
your username, password and the phone number
you are dialing.
-
Other Item to consider:
- Don't check Connect Automatically - when this is checked
it makes it hard to troubleshoot the dialer because it wants
to connect and does not let you control the connection.
- You don't need the area code when dialing, in fact if
you don't use it, it insures you will never dial long distance,
and be charged a higher rate for long distance call.

|
Your computer is acting strange,
It is doing things outside your control, not acting normal.
|
When this happens, probably the first thing to suspect is a virus.
It is important to have virus protection on your computer, it protects
your computer and the people you may email.
