Mac High Speed Setup
High Speed customers will either have a wired DHCP, Static IP or a Wireless broadband connection. Click on the
button above for information on setting up or viewing your high speed connection.
DHCP

Most customers will have a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) connection. Normally a customer will not have
to make any changes to their computer. To view the settings click on the Apple (upper left corner), then System Preferences.

In System Preferences click on Network

When Network opens you will see cards listed in the box on the left. Select Ethernet, on the right Configure: Using DHCP will display.
Your IP Address and other configuration properties will display. The IP Address you see may be different than the one displayed here.

Static IP Addresses

To setup a Static IP Address select Ethernet again on the left, on the right for Configure: select Manually. You can then enter the
IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, and DNS Server addresses you were given by ACS.

Wireless Setup

To view or setup your wireless connection, click on AirPort on the left. You will then see the Status on the right.
You are also able to turn your wireless card on or off. If you do not see your wireless network click on the Advanced button,
lower right corner, this should bring up the screen below.

To setup a new network click on the "+" sign below the Preferred Networks box.

The box to the left should then come up, you can enter your Network Name:, the type of Security:, and your Password:, for that network.
We do recommend WPA2 Personal, this is the easiest to setup and has one of the best securities. Note: for the most secure network a wired
connection is the best, wireless is generally more convenient. Click Add.
You should then be able to see your new network and be able to connect to it.
There is an alternative method to configure your wireless networks, from the Desktop click GO then Utilities.
Here select the AirPort Utility.
There is a wizard at this at this location that will help you setup you wireless network.
